SOME HISTORY OF PAPIER MACHE
Papier-mâché, a term that translates to 'chewed paper,' has a history dating as far back as 200 BC in China, where rudimentary paper was in use.
The Chinese ingeniously employed papier-mâché to craft practical items like helmets and snuff boxes. Meanwhile, ancient Egyptians utilized the technique for the creation of intricate death masks.
Fast forward to 18th-century Europe, papier-mâché found a resurgence, serving both utilitarian and ornamental purposes. It became a versatile medium for crafting items such as vases, tea trays, and dolls.
Moreover, it was creatively employed to transform ceilings, walls, furniture, and accessories, adding natural, organic, and eco-friendly flair to various living spaces and encouraging sustainability.

OUR PROCESS
Let's delve into our production process:
We start by collecting a wide variety of paper and cardboard from Casablanca and its surroundings. This raw material undergoes a meticulous sorting and treatment process, where it's transformed into tiny pieces. We then employ a specialized technique involving blending at high temperatures, creating an entirely new material.
This pulp, combined with eco-friendly ingredients like glue, plaster, and pigments, takes on diverse forms, ultimately evoking a connection with its natural source.
Each piece is allowed to dry freely in the open air or meticulously in front of a snug fireplace during the winter.
Crafted with affection and care, every creation comprises numerous strata of distinct paper clay mixtures. This not only facilitates the attainment of the desired color, hue, and texture but also augments the overall resilience and longevity of each creation.
It introduces a striking and profound contrast, breathing vitality into our earthy and brutalist designs.
Due to its intricacy, each creation typically requires a minimum of around 7 days to complete.
